V.O.C. is a cricket and football club in Rotterdam, active since January 1, 1895. The cricket section consists of four men's teams, a women's team, and six youth teams from U9 to U17. The V.O.C. Cricket Academy was established a few years ago to guide and train our youth players year-round. At our facility, we have two cricket pitches at our disposal, one of which features a grass wicket with 7 pitches; the other consists entirely of artificial turf. We also have an indoor hall with 3 cages and bowling machines, and 3 outdoor cages. V.O.C. is one of the 5 facilities in the Netherlands with ODI status, which means that international matches at the highest level are played here. Generally, the Dutch national team plays several matches at V.O.C. annually. In the 2018 season, the first team of V.O.C. became national champions, for the first time since 1994.
It is our goal to create space for all members, at both competitive and recreational levels, to play cricket at the finest sports facility in the Netherlands. We offer all cricket members opportunities to further develop themselves as cricketers. This should lead to us participating in the competition structurally with a substantial number of senior and youth teams, and additionally playing in the Topklasse with a recognizable first team consisting of homegrown players. The V.O.C. Cricket Academy is a crucial factor in this. We invest in a professional coaching staff, which consists of a number of V.O.C. members as well as former internationals and, during the season, one or more coaches from abroad. The Academy is active almost all year round and, in addition to technical aspects, must also convey the joy of the game to recruit and retain (youth) members.
