Amsterdam bounces back: ETPL win over Glasgow
Amsterdam Flames won the ETPL match against Glasgow Cosmic on Thursday. Cosmic reached 171 after an excellent start. Amsterdam needed only 16.5 overs to surpass this total, mainly thanks to 19-year-old Canadian Yuvraaj Samra (73).
171 was actually a disappointing score for Cosmic after the 102/1/11.1 recorded by George Munsey (67) and Jason Roy (38). Michael Bracewell (2-30) and Tim Pringle (2-23) not only bowled relatively economically but also took wickets. Bas de Leede provided a bizarre closing over in which four consecutive wickets fell, including three run outs.
Superstar Steve Smith hit his very first ball into the hands of Paul van Meekeren. Then Bas de Leede (26) and Yuvraaj Samra scored 94 runs for the second wicket. Samra hit three consecutive sixes off South African spinner Maharaj and finished on 73 runs from 32 balls with five sixes. Tim David finished the job in record time with 47 not out from 29 balls and five sixes. The Amsterdammers needed only 16.5 overs for the win.
With this, Amsterdam has moved up to fourth place in the table, which is led by the Rotterdam Dockers and the Edinburgh Castle Rockers.
