The first copy of A Touch of Dutch was presented to Anneke van Zanen-Nieberg, Chair of NOC*NSF, on August 6, 2026. The new English-language cricket book by authors Krijn Vrolijk and Jacob-Jan Esmeijer offers a complete overview of all T20 World Cup matches of both the Dutch men's and women's teams.
“In A Touch of Dutch, all of the Dutch men's T20 World Cup matches are extensively highlighted, including the historic victory over host nation England at Lord’s in 2009,” says Jacob-Jan Esmeijer. “The Netherlands won that match on the last ball, a result that made headlines worldwide. Since then, Oranje has participated in six more T20 World Championships.
In addition to the men's team, there is also extensive coverage of the Dutch women's team.” Earlier this year, the Dutch women qualified for a T20 World Cup for the first time in Nepal. A historic achievement that absolutely deserves a prominent place in the book, adds Krijn Vrolijk. “Not only the qualification campaign in Nepal, but also the five T20 World Cup matches against top nations such as South Africa, Pakistan, and Australia are covered in detail.”
“In recent years, cricket in the Netherlands has taken off tremendously,” concludes Anneke van Zanen-Nieberg. The women’s recent participation in the T20 World Cup underscores this. Additionally, the men are on track to qualify for the 2027 World Cup in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia. Beyond all this, the return of cricket to the Olympic program in Los Angeles in 2028 is wonderful for the sport, where the Netherlands is clearly a key player. It is fantastic that the proceeds from this book will benefit the development of female cricket talent—precisely where the difference needs to be made.”
