This weekend, Quick and HBS, the neighbours and rivals in The Hague's Bosjes van Pex park, both had reason to celebrate. The Quick women defeated the HCC/VCC women and became national cricket champions in the 40-over league. The HBS men defeated Quick in the T20 final in the Hoofdklasse and will compete in the T20 Topklasse next year.

The Quick men batted first. Only Sam Voss stood out above average with an excellent 70 off 56 balls. With that, he made more than half of Quick's total of 129/7. In the HBS attack, Kent Goedeke took 3-27.
HBS was ahead of schedule from the start thanks to Tayo Walbrugh (32). Reece Mason (63 not out) finished it off together with Kent Goedeke (33 not out). Old-fashioned HBS names like Visee, Scholte, Boendermaker, De Mey, Van Oostrom, and Boddendijk did not need to be involved in the batting.
Quick women win national title
The national title for the women in the Inspire Topklasse went to Quick. After persistent rain, the match was shortened from forty to just sixteen overs per team. HCC/VCC was missing three internationals, but could call upon several other internationals and the New Zealand player/coach Georgia Atkinson. Nevertheless, the team failed to impress in the batting against Quick's disciplined attack, in which everyone bowled economically and five bowlers each took a wicket. The meager final result was 79 runs in sixteen overs, with Mikkie Zwilling (18 not out) as top scorer.
Quick got off to a flying start whilst batting. A misunderstanding led to the run out of Robine Rijke (21), but by then the well-deserved victory was already secured for Quick. Shortly before the end, Hannah Landheer made the shot of the day with a beautiful cover drive, but the anchor role was fulfilled by Annemijn Thomson, who remained undefeated with 41 runs.
