Rotterdam Dockers concluded their encounter with Belfast Wolves with a victory. Thanks to an unleashed Heinrich Klaasen, the Rotterdammers had surprisingly little trouble with the 161/6 run by the Irish. On Sunday afternoon, Amsterdam Flames convincingly defeated league leaders Edinburgh.
Belfast was asked to bat first. Lorcan Tucker hit his stride with 58 off 42 balls and David Miller with 40 off 26. Via 120/4/15.5, the score became 161/6, which must have brought some relief to the Rotterdammers. In the Rotterdam attack, alongside the fast South African Anrich Nortje (2-37), it was Dutch international Logan van Beek who kept the pressure on with 2-41. Van Beek's Oranje teammate Michael Levitt then held his own impressively with 44 runs amidst his idols Faf du Plessis (31) and Heinrich Klaasen, who remained unbeaten with 47 runs in the clinical run chase (162/3/18).
Brilliant Bracewell brings league leaders Rockers to their knees
On Sunday, the start of the Amsterdam Flames against league leaders Edinburgh Castle Rockers was delayed by rain. Ross Adair (32) gave the Rockers a flying start after the delay, but then Michael Bracewell flew through the Scottish battingside. Helped in part by a brilliant stumping by Scott Edwards, the New Zealand offspinner finished with 5-12, his best figures in the T20 format as the Rockers were all out for 118 runs in 18.3 overs.
Steve Smith (25) and Yuvraaj Samra (40) raced to 53/0/7, but shortly after Smith paddled a ball via his helmet into the hands of Ross Adair (59/1/7.2), who was rushing in from short extra cover. Seamer Andrew Tye was instructed by Mitchell Santner to bowl offspin. It seemed to be prompted by a touch of desperation and therefore did not work. The 19-year-old Canadian left-hander Samra (40) capitalized up to his dismissal (89/2/10.1). Then Bas de Leede and Tim David finished it off without any trouble to 120/2/14.5. With the win, the Flames not only beat the league leaders, but also improved their run rate.
