ETPL: bowlers Van Meekeren, Ngidi, Nortje on fire
Together with Lungi Ngidi, Dutch international Paul van Meekeren was largely responsible for Glasgow Cosmic’s victory over Dublin Guardians: 183 – 150.
Dublin won the toss and bowled first. Jason Roy, known from the England team that played three One Dayers against the Netherlands at VRA in 2022, scored 60 runs off 37 balls, and Richie Berrington 71 from just 27 balls. 183/5 was the score the Irish had to try to surpass.
Harry Tector made a valiant attempt with a blistering 75 from 45 balls, but Lungi Ngidi (4-21) was in a class of his own, although Paul van Meekeren (3-28) was not far behind him. The Haarlemmer took the wickets of Vince, Mitchell, and Little as the Guardians were bowled out for 150 in 19.3 overs.
The Dockers' match against Belfast was abandoned due to rain. Belfast made 156/9, with Devon Conway as top scorer and the unplayable Anrich Nortje as the absolute standout, with 5-11 in four overs with fifteen dots. The Dockers had just begun their response (5/0) when the heavens opened.
