After the successful kickoff of the ETPL in the Netherlands, the circus has moved to Malahide, north of the Irish capital Dublin. Both Amsterdam Flames and Rotterdam Dockers were in action there on Thursday. Amsterdam lost; Rotterdam won.
Rotterdam Dockers needed 172/4 to hold off Glasgow (141/9). Faf du Plessis once again showed his class with 71 off 42 balls, backed by Dutch international Vikram Singh (33 off 25).
After a brisk start by the Scots, the innings slowed down a bit. Seamers Logan van Beek (3-19) and Anrich Nortje (3-26) were dominant and cut through the batting line-up like a hot knife, with Kiwi Jimmy Neesham becoming top scorer with 28.
Amsterdam loses to Belfast
Things went worse for the Amsterdam Flames (141), who bowed to Belfast Wolves (144/5/19). Despite the presence of superstars Steve Smith and Tim David, Bas de Leede top scored with 39 (20). After 77/4/8.1, 141 all out was downright disappointing whilst Fred Klaassen was economical and effective with 2-16.
Paul Stirling and Harry Manenti opened switly (35/1/4) before David Miller (42 of 26) brought the Wolves the win.
