We received the sad news that Ane Anema had passed away at the age of 94.
Ane (born December 25, 1931) was a native of Friesland who grew up in Voorburg and became a member of VCC in 1943. In the 1960s, he moved to Alkmaar, where he was one of the founders of the local cricket club in 1966.
In 1970, Ane returned to The Hague and became a member of HBS. He was a meritorious footballer and cricketer, but soon also showed his best side in administrative roles. In 1973, he succeeded Anton van der Vegt as chairman of the cricket section. He firmly established this section in six years.
After stepping down as cricket chairman of HBS, he continued to attend HBS 1 matches with his wife Riekje. Ane’s participation in the jubilee committee for the 100th anniversary was one of his final achievements for HBS. His sons Tjeerd Pieter and Ane Jan also played for HBS.
Since 1978, Ane was also a member of Still Going Strong, and in 1980-1981 he was a member of the board of the KNCB.
The KNCB wishes his surviving relatives strength in coping with the loss of this wonderful sportsman and administrator.
