The The Hague region is now home to two more cricket national champions. In Utrecht, HCC's U17s narrowly held off Kampong, and in Voorburg, VCC's U15s proved superior to – yet again – Kampong. So, no flowers in Utrecht this year, but all the more in the The Hague region.
In Utrecht, HCC boldly opted to bat in a rain-shortened match. That choice paid off thanks to a productive top order that simply threw the proverbial kitchen sink at everything that moved. And with success, as Wiesmeyer, Snoeck, and Korthals Altes laid the foundation for 110/6 in the available twelve overs.
Kampong barely stood a chance batting. They had no answer to legspinner Luuk Molkenboer, who took two wickets for just eight runs. Kampong batsman Vedesh Syamsunder saw his partners be dismissed and remained unbeaten with 23 runs. Thanks to 33 HCC wides, Kampong managed 101/6/12, insufficient for the national title, which went back to The Hague.
VCC U15 champions after win over Kampong
VCC U15 posted a challenging 187/5 in the available thirty overs, with Pragnay Gupta (56) as top scorer whilst Shanay Sanghrajka took 3-36 for Kampong. VCC's Arrush Nadakatta was too difficult for the Utrecht batters, as evidenced by the dream figures of four wickets for eleven runs. Aarav Singh (3-13) also saved his best bowling performance of the season for the national final.
Shreyansh Sanap scored 50 runs for Kampong as number six, but it was too little too late. The Voorburg bowlers bowled out Kampong for 150 runs, not enough for the national title, which therefore deservedly ended up in Voorburg.
