In early January of this year, our then-chairman Guido Landheer announced his resignation due to a career move to Paris. Since then, the board has conducted a thorough recruitment and selection process to find a suitable successor. The vacancy was widely advertised via the KNCB website, LinkedIn, and our network. We held interviews with a number of serious candidates. Although this search yielded valuable contacts, it did not result in a candidate to assume the role of chairman.
In the interim period, Vice-Chairman and Treasurer Jacques van Zuydam served as acting chairman. That period was experienced very positively by both the board and the organisation. His collaborative approach, combined with his board experience and strong financial background, inspires great confidence in the future of the KNCB.
The board has therefore decided to nominate Jacques van Zuydam as the new chairman of the KNCB during the next General Members' Meeting.
"I am very much looking forward to taking on this role. Cricket in the Netherlands faces great challenges and opportunities. Together with the board, the CEO, our clubs, volunteers, and partners, I want to continue building a strong and future-proof KNCB." – Jacques van Zuydam
CEO Huib van Walsem is also pleased with this nomination: "Over the past few months, we have worked together intensively, and I have seen how Jacques van Zuydam naturally demonstrates managerial leadership, connects people, and at the same time keeps an eye on the long term. I look forward to continuing to build the development of Dutch cricket together."
With the nomination of Jacques van Zuydam as chairman, a vacancy for the position of treasurer arises simultaneously. The board will therefore start the search for a new treasurer shortly. More information about this search will follow shortly.
The formal appointment of the chairman will take place during the next General Meeting. The board looks forward to presenting this nomination to the members at that time. At the same time, secretary Willemijn Vorderman will assume the role of vice-chairman. With this appointment, the board opts for continuity and a strong governance foundation for the coming years.
