Scottish women level the score in second ODI
In the second – shortened – One Day International in Stirling, the Scottish women leveled the score on Monday. The Netherlands was all out for 129 runs. Scotland surpassed that score in 16.2 overs for the loss of just one wicket.
The Scots asked the Dutch to bat first. Unlike the first match – won by the Netherlands – Scotland managed to dismiss the Dutch opening early this time. Captain Babette de Leede fought her way to 58 runs, but received support only from Caroline de Lange, who, with a patient 20, made a significant contribution to a 58-run partnership for the sixth wicket.
At 129 all out, the Netherlands missed only three overs because the match had been shortened to 35 overs per innings due to persistent rain.
Scotland did not need that maximum. The hostesses were clearly accustomed to a soft pitch and a slow outfield and benefited from mediocre bowling by the Netherlands. Wicketkeeper/ captain Sarah Bryce remained not out with 70 runs. The only Scottish wicket was taken by Myrthe van den Raad.
With this result, Oranje returns to the ICC ODI ranking – where the Netherlands occupies an impressive twelfth place – and the ICC contribution for Dutch women's cricket in 2027 is secured.
