- Fred Klaassen in top form with five wickets in warm-up match
The Dutch men's team has won a World Cup warm-up match in Australia. In Brisbane the Dutch team played against a strong selection of the Bulls. Especially thanks to Fred Klaassen, the Netherlands took the win (135-122); the left arm seamer took five wickets for only five runs.
Thanks to Myburgh (21) and O'Dowd (42), the Netherlands started off well. Later there were useful innings by Van der Merwe (17) and Pringle (22). Helped by fourteen extras, the Netherlands finished on 135 all out in 19.4 overs.
Despite 50 runs from Bryant and 38 from Burdon, the Bulls only reached 122/9. Fred Klaassen was mainly responsible for this. Kent's left arm seamer took a wicket in his first, second and fourth over, and two in his third, and finished with the bizarre figures 5-5 in four overs.
After a number of friendlies in Brisbane, the Netherlands will travel to Melbourne, where warm-up games against Scotland and the West Indies are scheduled, ahead of the T20 World Cup that starts on October 16.
