- Michael Rippon added to Dutch squad
Michael Rippon has been added to the Dutch squad that is preparing in New Zealand for a T20I and three ODIs against the Kiwis.
“That's fantastic news,” says High Performance Manager Roland Lefebvre. ''We are delighted that Michael is available for these Super League matches and our thanks go to Otago and NZC for making this possible''
Rippon grew up in South Africa, played for Sussex in 2012 and for Otago in New Zealand for several years. The 30-year-old cricketer is a left-arm wrist spinner and right-handed batsman.
National men’s coach Ryan Campbell: “The inclusion of Michael Rippon for the tour of NZ is really exciting for us and it’s something that we have been working on for some time. He will add another dimension to our team and add more experience to this young group. I’m really looking forward to him bowling in tandem with our young spinners.”
In 2013 he made his debut for the Netherlands. His last game for the Orange was in 2018 against Nepal. In first-class cricket Rippon bats with an average of 28.82. In addition, he has taken 102 wickets.
Super League
The matches against New Zealand will be played in the context of the Super League, which offers the prospect of participation in the Cricket World Cup that will be held in India at the end of 2023. In addition to all twelve Full Members, the Netherlands is participating, which qualified for the Super League in 2017.
