- Netherlands A puts Germany aside in T10; loss against Spain

Tempo changes, arm balls, flirting with the wide line... All tactical registers were opened in Cartama in Spain to keep Germany from scoring. The 120 runs of our eastern neighbours (Fayaz Khan 25) were not enough to make it difficult for The Netherlands A. Arnav Jain (3-31), Clayton Floyd and Shirase Rasool excelled.
Smart bowling and beautiful running catches from Teun Kloppenburg and Olivier Elenbaas – plus four ball magnet Michael Levitt on long off – led to the final result for the opponent at 120. In addition to Arnav Jain, Mees van Vliet and Clayton Floyd (both 2-24) had good figures.
Shirase Rasool started with two brilliant sixes over the top and quickly brought the Netherlands close to winning. Clayton Floyd (42-for-20) tackled Walter Behr with some monstrously large sixes. Sikander Zulfiqar (19 off 8) brought the Netherlands A on the brink, but capitulated before Rasool (36 not off 18 balls) produced the winning runs.
In the evening, Spain proved to be a more difficult opponent. Netherlands A posted a seemingly solid 140 thanks to spectacular innings from Michael Levitt (43 off 15 balls) and Sikander Zulfiqar (47 off 21). However, Spain raced to 46/0/3. Daniel Doyle Calle, known from Hermes DVS, murdered the Dutch attack: 47 off 17 balls before he was caught by Sikander Zulfiqar. Hamza Saleem Dar even went one step further. He remained not out with 61 off only sixteen balls, with nine sixes. Clayton Floyd took 2-26.
On Thursday 19 October, The Netherlands A will play Jersey. Finals day will be on Friday.
