- Netherlands squad announced for ICC Cricket World Cup
National coach Ryan Cook has announced his selection for the Dutch National Cricket Team which participates in the Cricket World Cup, played during the months of October and November in India. The Netherlands team will play against all top nine countries in the world ODI rankings, including hosts India, Pakistan, England, Australia, South Africa and New Zealand.
The Netherlands qualified for this World Cup by beating Scotland and two-time world champion West Indies in a very strong contested qualifying tournament in July in Zimbabwe.
Ryan Cook explains: “Naturally, our planning and preparation for the World Cup started soon after our qualification in Zimbabwe. Having no bilateral fixtures after the qualifiers enabled us to plan for various scenarios for the duration of the summer. Over the past few months the players and staff have been hard at work with the full squad being very dedicated and detailed towards achieving our objective in the World Cup”.
“The selection panel recognised all the efforts and performances from the extended squad both locally and abroad throughout the last few months. The growth mindset that has been present has enabled incredible progression and the trainings and matches have been of a high standard and have emphasised the style of cricket we strive to play. With this in mind, the panel fully trust that we have selected a strong and well balanced squad of Netherlands cricketers. We have an exciting mixture of youth and experience and a unified, cohesive culture which allows those to express their best selves within the group.”

The Dutch cricket team last qualified for a 50 overs World Cup in 2011. In the shorter format, the T20 variant, the Netherlands has participated in five World Cups, the last played in Australia in 2022.
An overall eighth position in Australia secured direct qualification for the T20 World Championship to be played in America and the Caribbean in June 2024.
Sponsorship deal
Today (7 September) the KNCB also signed a two-year sponsorship contract with fashion company Van Uffelen. The Dutch cricket team was given their clothes; soon during the World Cup in India, large distances have to be covered and then it is nice to wear comfortable clothes.
With a wide range of women's, men's and children's clothing and with more than 50 stores throughout the Netherlands, Van Uffelen is no stranger to the sports world. For example, the fashion company dresses the men of Vitesse and Go Ahead Eagles, the women of PSV and the men of Dynamo Topvolleybal.
Van Uffelen CEO Pieter Cox: “It is truly an honour that we can dress these top athletes and their staff in the next two years so that they can appear very representative on official occasions and major sporting events such as the World Cup in India soon.”
