- Orange women qualify for Global Qualifier

The Dutch women's team has qualified for the Global T20 World Cup Qualifier by beating France for the second time. Before the match, Italy could theoretically have tied, but in that case the Netherlands would have had a superior net run rate.
With the fourth win in as many games, the Orange left no doubt that qualification was well-deserved. After an 18/5 score, France showed some resilience with a total of 73, but the target did not cause any problems for the Dutch.
An LBW shout on the first ball and Mckeon caught and bowled off the second meant a dream start for the Netherlands. Even after that it was a coming and going of French batters. Responsible for this were the opening bowlers Iris Zwilling and Robine Rijke.
Tara Britton and Amy Seddon (26) secured a forty-run partnership for the sixth wicket. It was broken by a beautiful slipcatch by Merel Dekeling off the bowling of Caroline de Lange (1-12).
France fought its way to 73. Robine Rijke came off the field with the unlikely bowling figures 4-7, while Iris Zwilling took 3-15. Carlijn van Koolwijk (1-8) took her first T20I wicket.
Innings Netherlands
Iris Zwilling (13 not out) and especially Heather Siegers showed that they wanted to pass the 73 French runs quickly. Siegers (47 off eighteen
balls) hammered one ball after another out of the ground – five fours and three sixes – and was unfortunately caught just before her fifty.
France was defeated in just over six overs.
On Monday, the big match against Scotland is scheduled for 3.30pm. If the Dutch win, the Netherlands will win the tournament. In case of loss, the net run rate will be decisive. However, regardless of the outcome, both Scotland and the Netherlands have qualified for the Global Qualifier that will be held in early 2024.
