- The Netherlands beat Nepal in final over with record partnership
In the penultimate match of the Yamaha Racing T20I Series, the Dutch had to chase 145 Nepalese runs. Sterre Kalis and Phebe Molkenboer delivered a world performance by passing it without wicket loss.
Myrthe van den Raad and Hannah Landheer played for Frédérique Overdijk and Isabel van der Woning this time.
Nepal won the toss and chose to bat first. Already in the first two overs, the duo Iris Zwilling/keeper Babette de Leede struck twice (7/2).
A strong recovery of Nepal - with sharp running between the wickets - led to 66/2 after ten overs. A solid target was ahead.
18-year-old Mahato (62) reached a well-made 50 in the seventeenth over. With her fourth victim, Babette de Leede made it 125/4/18. Iris Zwilling (2-25) bowled well and had great bowling figures whilst Nepal made 145.
Netherlands innings
43/0 after the Powerplay was a great start by both openers Phebe Molkenboer and Sterre Kalis. Halfway through the innings, the score of the Dutch was equal to that of the hostesses (66).
Eight runs per over was now required, 56 off the last six overs and 32 off 24 balls. Time was running out. Fortunately for the Netherlands, Kalis began to find the boundary more often, including a big six off the first ball of the eighteenth over.
In the last over Kalis (98 not out) calmly played one defensively to be able to end the match with the shot of the day: a beautiful six. A fantastic win for the Dutch with a record partnership. Great support act by Phebe Molkenboer (48 not out).
