- World Cup qualifiers: Netherlands loses warm-up match to Scotland

Before the Netherlands travels to Zimbabwe for the World Cup Qualifier, the men bivouack at TUKS in Pretoria in neighbouring South Africa. The first friendly game against Scotland was scheduled for Friday.
Scotland, who opted to field, had opener Levitt (O'Dowd was injured) relatively cheaply, but a tougher opponent was in-form Vikram Singh (55). However, due to a failing middle order, the Dutch found themselves at 139/6. Logan van Beek brought bring some colour to the Dutch cheeks with 43 runs as number 7. 202 was the meagre end result. Three Scottish bowlers took two wickets each of whom left arm spinner Hamza Tahir (2-29) was the most economical. Young wicketkeeper Mackintosh picked up four catches.
Opener McBride was dismissed cheaply, but Matt Cross (91*) proved to be an unstoppable hurdle for the Dutch. When he made 101 runs with Mackintosh (56) for the third wicket, the game was in fact over, although for the Dutch too a left arm spinner (Clayton Floyd) had with the best figures (3-48). Scotland 203/5 in 46.2 overs.

The Dutch men's team will play WCL2 matches (50 overs) in Namibia against Canada and the host country. The KNCB will report on this event on site and socials. These matches are important for qualification for the World Cup in 2027. Of the eight participating teams in this global league, four will advance to a Global Qualifier.
