- Young talents included in selection Dutch women's team
From 4 to 13 September, the European T20 World Cup Qualifier will be held in Desert Springs (Spain). In addition to the 'usual suspects', young talents Myrthe van den Raad, Phebe Molkenboer, Carlijn van Koolwijk and Merel Dekeling are included in the squad. Frédérique Overdijk is recovering from recent surgery.
The Netherlands will play Scotland, Italy and France in Spain. All matches can be followed live via ICC.TV. The two best teams will qualify for the Global T20 World Cup Qualifier that will be played early 2024 (venue yet to be communicated).
Jeremy Bray: "Really excited to be joining the Netherlands women's senior side as head coach for the upcoming ICC Women's T20 World Cup Europe Qualifiers in Spain from the 4th to 13th of September. We have a very exciting group of players led by Heather Siegers. The outgoing head coach Shane Deitz has done an outstanding job of getting these ladies ready for such a big tournament whereby I am very confident in success for the team."
KNCB CEO Monica Visser on the upcoming European T20 World Cup Qualifier in Spain: “Our national women’s team has made big strides in the last couple of years. In terms of fixtures, 2023 has been the busiest summer for them. We hosted Thailand, Scotland, Ireland and Jersey for ODI, T20I and T10 Series. Furthermore, all national players have been part of the inaugural Dutch Women’s Super League, where three regional women’s teams took part in competitive T10 and T20 leagues. Special thanks to our sponsors SISAR, HCLTech and Tachyon Security for creating more opportunities on and off the field for our national women’s players. I wish all participants good luck but most of all a lot of fun to show the best of themselves and the team in the good spirit of the game.”
