Another nailbiter ends the Fairtree ProSeries

The Royals and the Hurricanes provided a resounding finale to the Fairtree ProSeries on Thursday. A close game in Schiedam resulted in 171-164.

Royals captain Bas de Leede sent the Hurricanes in to bat. Michael Levitt rediscovered his form with a half century. His opening partner Max O’Dowd (46) was contributed equally to the partnership of 91 runs for the first wicket, which came to an end in the twelfth over. David Rushmere’s 30 and a quickfire 28 (15) by Ryan Klein determined the Hurricanes’ final score at 171/5 as Dan Crowley took 3-34 for the Royals.

Where the Hurricanes had opened successfully, the Royals saw their opening pair dismissed for next to nothing. However, Bas de Leede 63 (40) and Zach Lion-Cachet made 59 for the third wicket and with Saqib Zulfiqar’s 33 (25) the late middle order could have finished it off. Two wickets prevented that. In the final over of Sebastiaan Braat (2-33) three wickets were taken, including two run outs. The Royals fell eight runs short of the win.

The Fairtree ProSeries (as well as the SuperSeries for women) has proven to be a valuable selection mechanism. Internationals can stay in shape, but it is above all the perfect platform for players to catch the eye of the national coaches. The KNCB is once again grateful to Fairtree for their continued support.
