With the heat expected this coming weekend, we have taken several measures to keep the enjoyment of the game high
Extra drink breaks: after every 10 overs (drink breaks after 10, 20, and 30 overs). For a T20 match, this is after 7 and 14 overs.
This is a mandatory measure imposed by the KNCB Match Referee and applies in all competitions.
Extension of the innings break: up to a maximum of 1 hour (since in Women’s T20, the Lower Classes, and the Recreational Classes no extra playing time is included in the KNCB Playing Conditions (article 13.7.3, Extra Time), extending the innings break means the match must be reduced as described in article 13.7.2 (Delayed or Interrupted Matches) of the KNCB Playing Conditions per competition).
It is advisable to record the agreement about extending the innings break in writing (for example, on the back of one of the two teamsheets) and have the captains sign it.
The end time of a match remains 20:00.
We urge captains to pay special attention to ensuring that their match is not unnecessarily delayed by, for example, constantly changing field placements, extra drinks for batters, etc.
We advise that all players, including when performing umpiring duties, wear head covering in the form of a hat or cap.
Finally, we expect all teams, in this heat, to pay extra attention to the Spirit of Cricket and take into account the warm weather.
