Update: Heat protocol

The KNCB applies the following measures in response to official heat warnings issued by the Dutch government:

Update 26/6 | 16:45

The KNMI has issued a Code Red for Saturday, 27 June in the provinces of North Brabant, Limburg, Gelderland, and Overijssel until 21:00 hrs. As we informed you earlier today, this means that matches on Saturday in these provincies have been cancelled.

Clubs in the Women’s T20 competition, Men’s Lower Divisions, Recreational Divisions, and Youth Age Groups may, in mutual consultation, decide to reschedule matches for another date. Please inform us of the outcome as soon as possible via competitie@kncb.nl.

If matches are NOT rescheduled, the result will be recorded as 'cancelled' and both teams will receive 1 match point.
Matches in the Men’s Topklasse, Hoofdklasse, and Eerste Klasse will NOT be rescheduled. The result will be 'cancelled' and both teams will receive 1 match point.

If the KNMI withdraws the Code Red for these provinces, the matches will remain cancelled.

Message 26/6 | 13:30

Code Red

When a Code Red has been declared for a province, all matches scheduled in that province will be cancelled.

  • For matches in the Topklasse, Hoofdklasse, and Eerste Klasse, the match result will be recorded as 1–1, and the match will not be rescheduled.
  • For matches in all other competitions and divisions, the clubs may mutually agree to reschedule the match for another date. If they decide not to replay the match, the result will be recorded as 1–1.

The KNCB will communicate any match cancellations no later than 10:00 p.m. on the evening before the scheduled match day by; notifying all club secretaries; publishing the information on the KNCB website; and sharing it through the KNCB's social media channels.

Code Orange

When an Code Orange has been declared for a province, matches will proceed subject to the following additional measures:

  • The home club must provide additional shaded areas for:
    • the batting side;
    • the fielding side and the umpires during drinks breaks;
    • the scorers; and
    • spectators.
  • The batting side must provide sufficient drinking water during drinks breaks, as well as buckets of (ice-)cold water in which players and umpires can wet their towels to help cool down during the breaks.
  • Additional drinks breaks must be taken every 10 overs or every hour, as agreed at the toss between the umpires and captains (or, in matches without appointed umpires, between the captains). These breaks should preferably take place in the shade.
  • Drinks breaks will be extended from 4 minutes to 6 minutes.
  • The innings interval may be extended to a maximum of 1 hour. The duration of the innings interval must be agreed at the toss between the umpires and captains (or, in matches without appointed umpires, between the captains).
  • Changing rooms and shower facilities must remain accessible throughout the entire match.
  • The additional time used for extended drinks breaks and a longer innings interval will be deducted from the extra time available in Topklasse, Hoofdklasse, and Eerste Klasse matches.

Code Yellow

When a Code Yellow has been declared, the regulations regarding drinks breaks and other weather-related provisions as set out in the Playing Conditions will remain unchanged.
